I was wondering if you all live in the place you were born and/or grew up in or did you move there as an adult ? If so, why did you move to that particular place ? Employment (or partner's employment), to be closer to a loved one, further education, to see the bright lights or to just be in a quieter place or to get away from someone or a bad situation ? Just being curious ..... thanks.

Change of scenery and chance at a new life in different surroundings .Thats all really.
moved out from London as a child only managed to move 2 miles since then. family friends and all that forces permanent stay
I live within walking distance of where I was born
I moved to the UK from Cyprus when I was 3 due to the civil war. My grandparents lived in the UK long before that anyway.
Like Neo, I live within walking distance of my place of birth (during my late teens and early twenties I moved away but came back). I very nearly moved away last year but the ex went so I didnt have to.

I love the southwest and don't think I'll ever leave.
Lived north and south of England, Belguim and Germany, but im back living 2miles away from where i was born, in the lake District, theres no place like home.
I live 10 minutes drive from where I was born. I did move 200 miles away when I was 12 but moved back here 8 years later.
I was born in the midlands and I have always lived here, my parents are both from ireland (north and south) and with things changing they are going to move back to ireland (south) where we have a lot of family.

The pressure is also on me to move to the family homestead in ireland too!
I am where I started. I now own my childhood home. I hope to move in the next few years. Too many nail salons, bodegas and foreign bakeries opening up. The increase in laudromats here also means more renters (transients) (with 42 family members living there) and less home owners at their properties, thus giving the community a slightly run down look. Hope to go to the suburbs when I go.
I was born in the royal london hospital in whitechapel london.

And returned there most of last year to refurbish a ward and some offices there. They are building a new hospital there at the moment that is a ten year project and I could have stayed there but chose to move on.

So I was born there and in theory could have died there as well as am getting on a bit now (sob sob).
It will be my 53rd birthday tommorow.
I still live in the town i was born in in Worcestershire.the only time i moved away was briefly to live with my sister in Berwick when i was 16.

I was born in Belfast but didn't grow up there. I came here to go to University and, errrr, never left ! I got a job here, found a husband, bought a house, lost the husband, stayed in the same job throughout LOL...

Not another birthday Knobbsalot ......
I moved to the UK almost 19 years ago from NYC.....my then husband was English and he was taking a job here. I now live on my own in the West Country.
I was born in Bromley, moved from there to Bath and then north, all with my Dad's job. Settled in Preston now by choice
It's so nice to hear everyone's backgrounds, what a great Q, Jugglering!

I moved from N. Yorkshire to Cumbria when I was very little, as my Dad was in the Forces and was posted over to here. When I was 17, I moved out, and when I was 19 I moved to South Cumbria.

I hope not to stay here once I've graduated-not many jobs etc., and we don't live in particularly nice area. Me and the dog want somewhere much quieter! I do like Cumbria though. I'd never live in London, as I find it expensive and unfriendly, and tbh, a little too BIG for lil' old me!

:)
I now own my childhood home. I plant to move to the suburbs in the next 5 years for numerous reasons: I want more space, the neighborhood is changing, and not for the better, and if my sister and niece are still living with me, I'd like niece to go to school where she is not the only one who has English as their primary language. (I know that sounds bad, but ....)
