I'm the same as luckystrike, i have a mortgage but that's it. I do have a credit card, but I only use it for online purchases for the protection element, and pay it off every month so have never paid any interest.
My car and student loan are paid off, don't have an overdraft, if I buy from catalogues I pay it with my debit card

no debt. all paid up. i use credit card but pay it every month. just use as much credit as you can without paing them. over the years the amount of credit time saved and interest is huge. it is useful not to buy and waste especially food. i used to visit a friend regularly and she always binned food coming up to sell by or actually would you believe food she bought the previous weekend. she was proud of that one ! and seemed to wait for an audience to do that .however her debts are massive..
Around 16000 student loan (not paying back yet as I don't graduate 'til Summer, and only work part-time while I am studying).
I have a credit card, with a very small limit, but it's paid off in full, and I use it for online purchases and to help me to the end of the month sometimes.
I have a 1500 overdraft which I will pay off in full soon as I graduate and find full time work (not a complete contradiction in terms!).

Only a small mortgage, which I'm working to pay off in the next 3 years. When hubby died, I told my son we weren't going to get anything we couldn't pay cash for, and I've stuck to that. In fact, I'm doing quite well now and even got a little nest-egg. It's different when you're younger, though - you'r bound to run up debts, just living!! How anyone manages to buy a house or flat as a first time buyer these days amazes me. I feel sorry for everyone who's got student loans, too. If it's any consolation, it should get easier as you get older.
