itchy vagina

My friends daughter is 8 and is scratching down below most of the time,she is an overweight child and she has been like this for several years. Her mum took her the docs about this along time ago and the doc just gave her cream...she never told me what the doc said was causing this irritation. Anyway the cream obviously didnt work and the poor kid is still scratching away.
I wondered if it was thrush but surely after all this time symptoms would have gotten worse...or possibly she may be diabetic
Her mum seems very reluctant to take her back the docs...any advice on this matter would be much appreciated

Has the mother tried changing bath/shower washes or even washing powder. She could try her on pro-biotic yogurts and see if there is any difference. Cranberry juice is good for the urniary tract as well.

Having re-read the thread I would now suggest that the mother gets her daughter referred to a specialist.
