What lies did your mum and dad tell you?

Or maybe that you tell your kids? (Nothing serious I mean). My mum told me that eating too many eggs made you egg bound (eggs must have been a bit expensive for her in those days!) and that we didn't get tornados in this country (Wizard of Oz scared the hell out of me!) What well-meaning lies did they tell you?

When it stang like hell I looked at her with big wide eyes and said "you told me it wouldn't sting?!!" she said "you wouldn't have let me do it otherwise!" I still bring it up now and again to embarrass her.

We lived a lie for years. Two close cousins were actually my fathers children. His first marriage was to my aunt, their mother. We were then expected to keep the secret for many more years and they called her new husband dad.
I knew, as adults, they knew the truth. When my father was dying I went to them, hoping they would not continue the lie. I asked if they wanted to see him and acknowledge him as their father before it was too late.
They did. A moment I shall never forget.
