anyone been to sun palace hotel in cancun and if so would you recommend it? looking for a good hotel in mexico but not sure which areas are over commercialised, want a quiet area to relax.
we went to Mexico for our honeymoon 4 years ago. We went to a place called Maya Riviera around 20 miles south of Cancun. It was an all inclusive resort and adults only (yay no kids running about). The average age was around 40. It was like paradise.
There wasn't a lot to do except to relax and enjoy - but it was just what we wanted.
We did go to Cancun one day by bus - and absolutely hated it - really commercialised and lots of American youth,
If you do want quiet, I'd look at the Riviera Maya area.
Went to Moon palace for our Daughters wedding about 9 years ago and can highly recommend it we had a wonderful time, it was very relaxing , the beach wasn't as nice as those right in Cancun but everything else made up for it. We didn't like Cancun itself. The Moon Palace is so big we didn't feel the need to move except for the trip to the Mayan temples - brilliant ! a must ..
My sentiments entirely, Oneeyedvic.
Be awrae that Cancun the resort is built on a sand spit of land offshore, linked to the mainland each end so you can't easily get away from the noisy US teenagers. Go further south for a quiet time.
It's brilliant, look at the two Riu hotels online, Riu Cancun and Riu Caribe, both amazing and they have optics in the room with litre bottles of rum, vodka, tequila and whisky, what else would you need? lol
thanks everyone for your answers.. yes riudor, i did mean sun palace, on the write ups it does say that moon palace is a sister hotel that can be shared with sun palace. sun palace is also adults only which appealed to us.will continue to search for a hotel, will have a look at maya riviera.
