Hair loss after exercise

My mum's hair started falling out the day after she went on an 8 mile run. The next week she did 10 miles and more is falling out. Could this be due to a weakening of her scalp after her hair fell out during chemotherapy? We thought it was 'telogen effluvium' where the hair falls out after a stressful event but I don't think the hair is supposed to fall out until 1-3 months after the stressful event, not the next day. Could it be due to increased male hormones after the exercise? We have been training for a half marathon and she has lost quite a bit of weight, but even this doesn't really explain the rapid hair loss days after going for a long run.

Could be a delayed reaction to something or maybe hormonal, is she approaching the menopause?

How much hair is she losing?

Might be worth a check with her doctor.
Hi idly - Tell her to get checked at the doctors with a blood test for overactive thyroid. Look it up on any search engine xxx
