50% of women on dates offer to pay - but don't mean it

A survey has found that 50% of women will offer to pay for a date but really doesn't intend to so. Three out of ten people go halves while the rest do neither and expect the man to foot the bill. What do you think? Who should pay on the dates � the man or the woman? Or now should we pay half each?

I always pay my half!
However, I seriously cant remember ever being 'taken out' and not paying, would be nice to be treated at least once in my life. Not too much to ask is it?

I've offered to pay half when I've been out on dates, and would've/did when the man let me. HOWEVER, I do prefer a man to foot the bill because i think its sweet and I'm a bit old fashioned like that.

The asker should pay imho... but graciously accept if the other person offers half...

I offer but bloke usually ends up paying. Its funny women are all for womens rights, why should they be chained to sink etc but when it comes to paying oh thats a different story

There could be an 'age' thing here. I am in my 40's and if I were single (which I'm not!) again and in my 20's,I wouldn't think of paying on a first date , with a view to checking out the finances of my date and then paying the next time if he wasn't flush. However, if I were newly single today then I would expect my date to pay. As a man in his 40's, he should be financially secure or I wouldn't go out with him to begin with.
I think the younger generation tend to go halves as a matter of course.

This is beyond me, it must be an age thing, because I have never ever ever in my life taken a lady out and expected her to pay for a single thing and I would always pick her up from her house and take her back to her front door, am I sad or what?

Hiya skyep, suppose you are right, I know things are hard and going out now costs a bomb, and yes I have always worked but never used to earn much money when I was young, thats the way it was, a man always paid. but it isn't just the going out bit it is the letting a girl/lady go home on their own as well, No way could I do that, xx
