chunks of colour into black hair

Hiya all. I have a black bobbed hairstyle and am thinking about adding some colour to it but want some ideas. Should I get some blonde,red,light brown i it? And should I have highlights, chunks, flashes? My fella loves my hair so I dont want to change it too much. I dont know how to put a picture up onhere els I would have. Thank you so much for any help.xx

what about clip in hair extensions cut to the desired length? I do that with several colours depending on my mood and its not permanent

It would be a good idea but I cannot have extensions as I am a nursen theatre and would have hell to pay if one fell out on a patient.

i have black hair and i regulary get chunks of a pinky-red colour called Magma by wella put in, its works great in dark hair and i only get it put at the front underneath my layers so it shows at the bottom... i have also had blonde chunks put in.. it fades to a wkd copper brown colour..

on dark hair i love red flashes or blue flashes. not together and just a few ,looks really classy

Hmmm...well if you dont want to change it too much i suggest you try a non-perminant option first. I personally think that blue highlights look nice in black hair, very thin ones mind you. Also pink looks quite nice. But if you're going for a more subtle colour i think a red would look very nice.
Hope it helps, i can't really tell without a picture of your hair but my cousin used to have a black bob and she had pink and red through which looked fab and i must say i was very jealous (: Some photos of Rihanna (the singer) have examples of her colour highlights but they were a while ago when she first got her hair cut short.
