Blood pressure tablets.

Does anyone take Ace inhibitor B.P. tablets called Trandolapril. Since taking them 12 months ago my partner has suffered a continual dry cough. The doctor has done an X-ray but proved negative. I have looked up side effects for this tablet and all say it could result in a cough. What action should I take now?

After about 2 years of taking it I developed the same dry cough!! they simply changed the kind of ACE inhibitor i was on and i dont have it anymore. It is quite a common symptom so dont worry!! Im now taking Enarlapril. Hope this helps!!
wikipedia entry on ace inhibitors:
A persistent dry cough is a relatively common adverse effect believed to be associated with the increases in bradykinin levels produced by ACE inhibitors, although the role of bradykinin in producing these symptoms remains disputed by some authors.[2] Patients who experience this cough are often switched to angiotensin II receptor antagonists.

i too suffer from this dry cough side effect (i take ramipril), which has got worse the higher the dose i take. i'm just about at the point of going back to my gp to ask for a different one but have been reluctant to as my blood pressure is spot-on now and i wonder if a change of medication will alter it adversly - does anyone know?
No wonder doctors can't get it right. It seems other ACE inhibitors cause a cough besides the one being taken. I have tried to get my partner to see the GP to change it but like Etherdron above feels reluctant to make a change especially as the tablets and doses taken in the past have been ineffective to cure the BP. At least the BP has stabilised with the current tablets.
