How great are they?
When I was growing up The Monkees, although maybe already 15 years out of date, were always on Saturday televison. Now they never seem to be on, even with all these bloody cable stations.
Are they still relevant to todays child or do kids just want to see CGi, coloured rap artists singing about drugs, b!tches and wh0res and watch overpaid footballers fall about in agony when somebody tackles them?
Anyway, forget "I'm a Believer", forget "Daydream Believer" and forget "Here we Come (Theme from The Monkees) this is one of the nicest tunes ever written.
They simply do not make tunes like this anymore. Enough sweetness here to warm even the coldest of AB strumpets.

Must be galling for Davey Jones though - being the 'vocalist' when the guitarist and the drummer both have far superior voices!
My fave songs are 'Papa Gene's Blues' - the Mike and Mickey harmonies are to die for, and 'Alternate Ttitle' - which showed Mr D as a literate composer with an edge about the lifestyle he was living at the time.
Their albums should be a masterclass in pop composition and arrangements.
