i thought that my cat was pregnant and is due now and is shoeing all of the sings of a pregnant cat, but the other night i saw a tape worm egg comming out of her anus. Could it be that she has a bad case of tape worm? I have felt and seen what i thought to be kittens moving about. Could it be the worms moving about or am i going mad. Please help

It sounds as if she is expecting kittens and also has tape worms. She needs to be seen by a vet,

(a) to determine whether she is pregnant
(b) to get some proper advice about worming. She will pass the worms on to her kittens (if she is pregant) and they will need to be wormed at very regular intervals.

If you can't afford a vet, phone your local area Cats Protection League and ask their advice, sooner rther than later.

PS A bad case of worms will make a cat's tum look very pregnant!

Hope all goes well.
I should think that if worms was the problem...and your cat wasn't pregnant-then she would also appear to be mal-nourished. Does she look as if she has lost weight in the rest of her body???

Very true pastafreak.

By the way isisxxx, you wouldn't see the worms moving about, not unless they are giant ones!

Thnks for all the help and advice.
my cat has given birth to 4 lovely kittens and the vet gave me some medicin for the worms. It is round worm that she has.
mother and kittens doing well.
thnks love isisxxx
How wonderful. It is round worms that tend to infect mother cats and she can pass them on to the kittens before they are born. I expect the vet has told you about worming the kittens quite regularly.

Well, what colour are they? Are you keeping them? Tell us more :o)

Congratulations to Mother Puss

Thank you Loftylottie, the vet gave me great stuff for her and yes he told me that the kittens will need done as soon as they start eating meat.
Well we have 2 black and white kittens, One black and one white with black and brown spots.
I am keeping one of them and the rest are going to members of my family so that i can still see them and make sure they are well looked after.
I will be putting both of my cats into get nuterd.
Can you tell me how to tell what sex the kittens are and when will mummy start taking them to her litter box please.
love isisxxx
Hello Isis. Unless you are trained, at this early age it is quite difficult to tell whether they are boys or girls! You will be surprised how quickly Mum will teach them to use the cat litter. They become trained very, very quickly. Whilst they are so tiny she will be licking their rear ends to encourage them to poo. That is what Mum cats do so don't worry about it.

What a lovely mix of colours. It will be difficult for you to choose which one to keep Isis.

I envy you. I would love to have four tiny kittens.

thank you loftylottie.
They are getting big all ready and mum is liking them at the botty.
I never see them as mum has not brung them out yet, i wait with antisapation.

Mum cat will also clean up all their little poos by eating them (the poos not the kittens!!). She will be keeping both the kittens and their surroundings really clean.

I will come back and visit this question from time to time to see how you are doing.

By the way, it is possible to tell which sex they are by the measurement between the hole they wee from and the anus, but it is almost impossible at this early age and sometimes even vets can get in wrong! When they are a little older it will be easier and any males will be showing signs of little male testicles.
