go to the hairdressers
Encourage her to be proud of it. It is distinctive and called a malon streak. My son has one in his blonde hair (it's always been there)

In my experience of grey hair it is very difficult to get it to blend with blonde exactly. I would personally emphasise it and perhaps make it stand out even more, perhaps make it more silver or ash. After all, it's very fashionable to have streaks of colour in hair these days.
or dye it black

thanks for all your replies,
Black hair, no ha ha would not suit her
I would go to a hairdressers for a proper colour match. My greys are difficult to cover with so called permanent colourants but my hairdresser has access to products that do it better.
I know its difficult for her but re assure her its just fine as it is, if you start going to the hairdressers it will mean a life time of expense for a 3 week fix, tell her its just fine..... ....

I try to tell her it doesn't show, and looks fine, she has even said she doesn't want to go to school sometimes!!
My other daughter is now doing a hairdressing course, so hopefully soon she will know how to deal with it,
thanks for reply
Shame, she is at that very vulnerable and self conscious age. In a few years time she will love her malon streak. Perhaps she would like to dye it red or something - that would impress her school mates (although perhaps not her teachers). In some ways 14 is such a horrible age to be. I bet she looks just lovely!
I've been grey since I was 14 too - I'm now 32 and the majority of my hair is grey.

Is your daughters grey a white grey or a silver grey?
Mine is silver sadly, if it was white grey I would love it and not try to cover it up. Although I am always tempted to try and get my hair the colour that Mr Jay (America's Next Top Model) has... but so far I haven't tried.

I think its just something that she is going to have to live with. Most people don't even notice mine and I have dark har.

thanks for lovely replies, My daughter's is more silver grey than white grey, if it was white it would like like the mallen streak as you say, thanks again
the reason the blonde dyes you are using to try and cover grey is not working is more often than not the supplied peroxide is too strong! peroxide is the element which decides the lightness of lift and most chemist products are designed for the dark haired customer to go blonde. try this - go to your chemist and buy a bottle of 10 volume peroxide (this is available in most chemist behind the counter) buy a hair dye with the number 9.0 any will do. open the package and mix the tube of dye with the 10 volume peroxide (ignore the bottle of peroxide supplied in the box of hair dye) check the amount of hair dye in the tube eg if it states 40ml mix the whole tube with equal amounts of the 10 volume that is equal amounts. apply to the grey hair ONLY rub it into the hair massaging well into the hair shaft leave for 30 mins.
