Is a permanent blonde hair colour mixed with 12% peroxide damaging? I mean the wella colours that the hairdressers use. Could hair snap off of dry out at all?

Hi Casey, if you're getting it done at a hairdessers it shouldn't do that cos they will know what they're doing, however if you're talking about a DIY i wouldn't risk it, peroxide is naturally very drying for heair cos you're basically stripping it of its colour, so it will dry then hair. does that help? plus a permanent blode block colour will also leave you with mega roots - what about highlights?

A hairdresser told my friend how to mix a colour with peroxide, and so her mum now does her roots and it looks just the same. Just thought about saving myself money!
peroxide is drying and may damage hair. However,if you go to a beauty supply store, they sell something called a protein filler which you can add with the peroxide and leave on hair before lightening. It fills in weak spots and leaves hair soft and shiney. If your hair stylist is doing it,you should be fine...if you arent sure, get a second opion from another salon.
