I'd still wear gloves if I was forking it on to my roses! - it is true, however, that horse manure is less liable to contain "nasty" bacteria and parasites than dog or cat faeces. We frequently see a mounted police patrol in our area and the horses regularly "misbehave" on paths and roadways. My wife has often commented on the disparity between the dog owner who is forced to clean up after Fido whereas the horse leaves much more of a mess behind and "gets away with it". It has to be said, however, that within a relatively short time it seems to dry up and disperse quite naturally.
