nose bleeds / high blood pressure
morning all! Hope all my 'bump-buddies' are well.
i just wanted to ask if anyone has had nosebleeds during pregnancy.
We went out for lunch saturday and suddenly my nose gushed, it continued for about 45 mins and then stopped. I bought a home BP monitor and my bp was ok for me 140/80 so i thought nothing of it really.
Have just got up and its done it again, this time with a bp of 137/96 though the bleed is almost stopping now after 10 mins.
shall be phoning midwife at 9 but wondered if anyone had any ideas?

Mine were always small though and the longest one only lasted about 5 minutes and I never had high blood pressure. Mine were simply a result of the extra blood flow and nothing to worry about (according to my midwife) Im guessing yours is probably caused by the same thing but as they last so long its good your checking with your midwife. Lets us know how you get on.
HI everyone, hope you're well and not being blown around too much :-)
I haven't had any nosebleeds yet, but since early pregnancy I have suffered with sensitive sinuses and a constantly bunged up nose which has led to little bleeds but only due to the pressure of me blowing my nose.
What did midwife say?

franky, Im sorry i havnt any further advice than to take a test. Although if your partner has only been back a week it sounds as if your period was already late. perhaps a call to your GP is required.
thanks psy and Nat, Ive blown my nose on occasions through the pregnancy due to sinus probs and found signs that ive had a small bleed, but no nosebleeds as such.
My BP is now back down to 127/77 but I am still waiting for a call from midwife. I didnt think it urgent enough to bleep her so left message on her answerphone at her office.

Hi, red. I once had a nose bleed through stress for an hour when I was in my teens. It was because my hair wouldn't go how I wanted it to(seriously!). I have been told, although I'm not sure how true it is, that if you have a nose bleed that goes on for longer than 15 miuntes you should go to the hospital.
Anyway, I hope all is well. Have you heard from your midwife yet? x

she has just called WS, ta
apparently it could be the sudden peak in my BP thats causing them. She cant do anything other than to ask me to keep checking through day and tell her of any more bleeds because, as my BP drops again, putting me on medication would lower the highs but also lower the lows.
I have often got them when not pregnant purely due to a hot sunny day so i am obviously affected by pressure in some form.
the fatc that i had a headache all night would also suggest i had high BP through the night.
