Help to write a complaint letter
10 Answers
Hello,
im needing to write a complaint letter to one of the Harvester restaurnats we visited yesterday and found it very poor, we put our name down which was for 3 adults and an infant, was told the wait would be 30 mins, after waiting for nearly an hour hubby decided to ask what was going on, they had forgotten us, not only us but also another table for 4 had also been forgotten about, after eventually being seated, we were not told who would be serving us where in other restaurants you are told this, then we waited again for another 15 mins before being asked for our order, the food was fine, the restaurant was unkept, the tolilets were dirty and needed a good clean, can anyone please help me put this into a complaints letter. Thank you very much.

Hi there,
Set out your complaint almost like you have set out your question. Look up the Harvester head office on the web and send your letter to the Managing Director there. If you can find his/her name address it personally to them. If necessary phone the head office and ask the name of the MD. Send a copy to the local manager as a courtesy.
You should get a quick response.
Good luck.

Hi tamirra, what a dreadful experience for you.
I would write exactly what you have written here...
Order it, perhaps so you start with the first problem you came across (waiting and being forgotten about), and end with the state of the restaurant itself.
Be very clear and concise about the problem. My weakness (well one of many!) is that I can waffle, so I have had to learn to be quite direct. It works though. Tell them you were disappointed by their poor standards, tell them it isn't what you have been used to in the past from them (if this is the case), and if you feel confident enough, ask them what they're going to do about it! Perhaps not in such a forward way though.
Hope you get somewhere with them. As a family restaurant they ought to be very sorry!

can i just add that i went to a new harvester the other day (been open 2 weeks) and we were not told who our server would be, in fact i dont know many restaurants like that who do now.
Perhaps just add that as an aside rather than a complaint as such. Focus on the really strong points like the waiting and the cleanliness.
good luck

Did you eat your meals and pay for them? You
really should have left and told them you would
complain, but as you have obviously stayed and
experienced very bad service and dirty facilities
you should write to the manager or owner and just say what you have put in your question, it explains clearly the situation, just check your
spelling and start off Dear Sir/Madam I wish
to complain about the appalling service we
experienced on --- and continue with your
remarks. Good Luck

I used to work for a compalints department for a holiday company and whilst I appreciate this was a meal and not a holiday, the basics are the same. Make the letter as simple and professional as possible. Bullet point each compaint. for example.
1- Wait too long
2- forgotten about
3- etc etc
Then detail what it will take to resolve this issue for you, you may not get that obviously, but it helps if you have a starting ground.
Advise that you'd like your letter to be addressed (not necessarily resolved) within a set time, the usual is 21 days.
Good luck :-)

Dear Mr. Martin,
I am sending you this letter in connection with the place that I and my family rented at House No. 40 B last April 2009.
According to what we have agreed in the contract, you are going to renovate the place a week before we could stay on it. However, until now your assigned worker has not yet come to fix what is needed to be fixed but I am hoping that after you receive this letter you will do the necessary action.
I hope that this letter will serve as a wake call for you to do your part in maintaining the look of place, and hopefully an immediate action will be done.
Thanking You,
Sincerely yours,
