I agree entirely with Smudge. However, We have been married for 35 years and I am totally in charge of the finances!! This is only because he's useless at paying bills and is more free and easy than me with money. We do discuss everything though.
All monies earned by both spouses should be owned by each spouse equally. I would hope that the day is gone when a man thinks that because he earns more (obviously this can occur the other way - i'm just using this as an example albeit a more likely one) doesn't mean he decides what the money gets spent on. If this happens, the women will find herself virtually begging him for money if and when they decide to have children and she can't work for 4-6 months.
If you are not already married KanterClan, I think you and your partner need to sort this issue out very soon as money arguements are one of most common (if not THE most) among married couples.
Don't think you quite understood what I meant Tracy. We share all our finances and our financial decisions and everything is jointly owned. It's just that he's so useless at doing the actual paying and admin, that I do all of this. He doesn't even know what we have in the bank, etc, whereas I can tell you right down to the last penny!
