Hi sandrajo, I would turn it in, absolutely. It's not my money, and I shouldn't persuade myself that it is.

If its owner isn't found, and the contents of it is returned to me, I would donate it to a charity, rather than put it in my bank. Otherwise I would never live with the guilt! x
I'd definetly hand it in, although if I was standing outside Dorothy Perkins, it may be a bit harder to resist.......!
Hello sandrajo , I would turn it in :-) xxx

morning everyone : )

A few honest people on here then. I did find one and turned it in, I never even hesitated but a few mates have said they wouldn't have....
Would definitely hand it in. Would hope that if it was my purse the finder would do the same. It has happened to me and I couldn't wait to hand it in as it's just horrible losing your purse.
I couldn't not hnd it in, SJ, I honestly would feel so guilty! I found a fiver in the park when I was walking the dog a few weeks ago, and it was all scrumpled up, and a lot of kids walk through the park to school, so I think someone had dropped their dinner money! I picked it up, but I felt so bad about it. I used it as that month's Dog's Trust donation!

Not trusting the local police or town hall here, I would report my find without telling them how much was in it, and then if anyone enquired they would be able to identfy it to me and I'd hand it over. Obviously if it had a name and address I would contact the owner itself.
Years ago in the 70's my dad found a wallet at the side of the road. It was stuffed with money and luckily had a name and phone number so he rang the man who was there to pick it up within half an hour. He grabbed it off my dad, looked through it and said 'You'd better not have nicked any' then walked away without so much as a thank you !!
My dad and I once found about 4 20 notes floating along down the dual carridgeway next to where we live. I have to say we kept it!
But I once found a gold bracelet in M&S when I was about 12 and handed it in. About a month later I got a letter from a woman telling me how she was so grateful it hand been found and handed in as it was the last present her husband had given her before he died.
Where are the polite people like that nowadays?

If I found money just on the ground then I would certainly keep it but if it was a wallet or purse then I would hand it in. I once found a purse at Legoland in the toilet and I was wandering around looking for a lost property place but couldn't find one so i gave it to someone who looked official and he just put it in his pocket. I wonder to this day if he ever returned it !
I would have more pleasure in returning it than keeping it............providing the person was grateful !!
I'd take the money.
Jillius, ungrateful ****! That is shocking. I would have been tempted to snatch it back and tell him to shove it!

Chocolat, sometimes when it is loose money, it is hard to know what to do. Did you treat yourselves to anything nice? :) How are you, anyway?

Hey the leeapops :)
I'm not that great unfortunately. And definitely not looking forward to returning to work on monday. But I have an appointment with the psychiatric nurse for tuesday at last!
I can't remember what we spent it on might have been a trip to the zoo, lol I was only about 6.
How are you dear? Enjoying this dull and cloudy weekend?
Oh Chocolat, I am sorry to hear that. The offer is still there if you want a listening ear, hun.

I am pleased they finally got you an appointment though, that's going to be a real step forward for you :)

I am OK really, apart from walking my dog, I never see the outdoors at the moment, as I have so much study to do! But I am hoping for a peaceful weekend so I can get a few bits sorted. *sigh* Life is a whirl of thrilling activity! x
mmmm thrilling :)
What are you studying at the moment?
I would check to find any owners details in there and return it, if no joy then I would take it to the cop shop or the post office (they put found notices up)
Isn't it just?!
It's a Youth and Community Work course, I love the work but hate the academia! Soon be over though, if I get my **** in gear and do my work!

Ahh right. Sounds quite good. I'm going back to college this september to study National Dimploma in Health and Social Care. Then Hopefully to continue onto a BA honours degree in Psychology.
Maybe one day I'll be able to be my own patient :)
The most amazing part of my weekend seems to have been to watch Benidorm, My family and QI one after the other and trying to get into a tin of corned beef. Since I can't have chips or potatoes because I'm on a special diet. ugh!
This happened to me when I was about 16/17. My friend and I found a purse on a bus and we looked through the contents if we could find a number or address. Luckily there was a phone number which we rang and the lady was so pleased. She lived near so we went round to give it to her. And no, we didn't take any money from her purse although she did give us a 5 for returning it. We said no but she insisted so we took it.
