ice it. Wrap an ice cube in tissue and hold it on the sore as long as poss. Can also help one stop forming . I have been known to use icepops if I am out. Also I have used the compeed patches and they do hide it .....just be careful when you peel the patch off! OW !!
they are very light plasters about half inch round that you can put make up over. they do disguise it .could you use two? but they are not cheap about 7 a pack of 12. google compeed cold sore patches. its even got a link for a free sample. good luck. Have you had a course of acolvir tablets from your GP they do cut the severity and frequency of attacks.
I seem to get them after I give blood do you think there is a connection?? And what if I wear those plasters put make up on then it falls off half way through a night out :-)
Ah Bless. They wont fall off you have to peel them off. It could be you that you are bit run down and giving blood is the last straw or that you are stressed when giving blood. stress, sun, tiredness, trauma ,chapped lips, even picking a bit of loose skin from my lip will do it to me.
I have discovered compeed. It is a little plaster that covers the cold sore. When I have a sore, I put one of these on as soon as I get in from work, (because they're a little noticable) and leave it on all night, removing it the following morning. It does help me.
I believe you can buy these in most chemists.
My colleague, takes the tablet L Lysine which she swears by.
i used to get them all the time, taking a combined vit c and zinc tablet seems to have 'cured' them, in nearly 4 years i've only had one, and i used to get them pretty much every time i had a cold.
doesn't help much now though, i feel your pain, they hurt and look horrible ;-(
they are getting on fine thanks for asking, little redcrx had accident yesterday so was back in hospital for redcrx but he's ok today. Maybe I should start taking these combined vits you're on about
Really dont feel that run down and as I said maybe the giving blood last week has done it. I dont really have lay ins though but do have the 8hrs sleep required. I think the vitamins are a good idea. Any idea what vitamins may help my dry skin?
