Hi i am having an eye test on Friday and they mentioned the option of having a retinal photo done.

Has anybody here had one and if so are they of any use or just an excuse to rip me off for an additional tenner?
Thanx

i have had one cost me more than a tenner .it can show up things better ,they put it on a computer screen and have a closer look at the veins or what ever they are called that are part of the make up of the eye.it can show up pressure spots.best of luck
I don't see why you should pay for that, if there is nothing wrong with your eyes. If there is a problem and you can't see properly go to your local Eye Clinic at the hospital and get the retina test done for nothing! I don't think you need it for a normal eye check up. Sounds like a rip off to me.
I would pay for it. I'ver had one done and it showed up an abnormality that required further investigation. My friend had a similar experience. I think the health of your eyes is worther a tenner!
I'm an 'older' woman and had an eye test at Boots last week.

The optician asked if wanted the retina photograph but told me to save my money as it is a waste of time for people where there is no abnormality detected during the normal eye exam.
