In this time eat healthily to lose weight and improve skin texture and exercise to tone the muscles, It is not necessary to do 100 sit ups but walking, swimming, general strength building exercises will all help.
If you feel no better about yourself in a year consider your options and discuss it with your GP.
As big as your stomach is, it is the way you feel about it that is the biggest problem. Try and be positive and feel good about yourself NOW, instead of letting it get you down.
Good luck with it.

Very good answer above. If you've had children, and have reached menopause now, it's only natural for you to be left with a tummy, everyone (bar a few lucky ones!) is the same. Menopause tends to make women put on weight in this area, as I've seen happening with my mum (I'm 30, but weigh twice her weight, so I DO know about tummys too! lol)
If it's only having a tummy you're worried baout, then all advices above are good. If now you've lost LOADS of weight, or have one of those "aprons" left from pregnancy, then you can have reconstructive surgery should you wish to. But for only a bit of tummy, I wouldn't worry hun! :O)

If you've had children and you have that loose apron of flesh and skin overhanging, then no amount of diet or exercise will ever work. Women who are Menopausal will also find fat stores more easily around the stomach area.
Often the area has lost elasticity and will never be supple again, so the only solution is to have the overhang removed, via a Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck).
If it really concerns you, then perhaps look into it, speak to your GP and ask for recommendations to a reputable surgeon.

don't even consider surgery pud, you are who you are and i'm sure people love you just the way you are. this floppy tummy we develope is just a trophy of the life we've lived and enjoyed. no-one's perfect - don't you think those models and celebs you see in magazines just look so fake and obsessed with themselves? do you really want to be like them?
i have a belly which is probably worse than yours but i still wear a bikini on holiday and let it all hang out. if you need to wear something special then invest in a pair of 'magic knickers' - i believe they work miracles. couldn't wear them myself, too much like torture.
you're a real woman with a real woman's figure - celebrate it! put your shoulders back, stick your chest (and tummy) out and be proud and happy!
