Having jabs... I hate needles!

I am off to Egypt in 3 weeks and am due my booster injections. Hep a, b, polio, tetnus, typhoid, rabies and something else.
I am really uncomfortable about needles... where are they done? The crook of the arm? The shoulder? The bum? Can they be done in 1 go or do I need 5 different injections?
Is there a way I can prepare the skin for the inevitable puncture? Clench the fist?

Not that I am nervous! (wooo weee)

I hate injections too but told the nurse and she chatted to me to take my mind off it.

They were done in the top of each arm and its way better to relax the muscles.

It was much better than I thought it would be and way better than getting a disease!

I had a 3 in 1 jab yesterday. It was Tetanus, Diptheria and Polio. It was done on the top of my left arm. Ask you GP for this.

Its over in a second, but then again I'm not scared of needles as I give blood regularly.

I went to Egypt last year and only needed 2 (3 at the most) jabs, they were combined so each one covered more than one disease.

I hate needles too and looked the other way whilst chatting to the nurse, I hardly felt a thing and felt a right wuss for worrying about it so much!

I had a hell of a lot for travelling a few years back. The worst that happened was that Typhoid gave me a stiff arm for a day or so. At 'point of impact' they don't hurt though, you'll be fine ;-)

Hi caladon , I feel for you , it must be rotten for you , I have no fear of needles , which is a good job as I see plenty .
My son used to be petrified but is now not phased by them at all , he had loads of vaccinations on joining the RAF and that cured him as you don't want to look scared stood with your squadron.
The nurse will help you and you needn't look while its's done , plus , these days the needles are so tiny you may not even feel it. All the best xxx

Didn't even feel the polio/tetnus/dip jab even go in.
The typhoid however was uncomfortable and my arm now kills, but presumably because of the vaccine itself!
