I buy the dye from salon services and mix it up myself with the peroxide (really easy) works out at around 2 a pop and you can re-touch your roots whenever u like by only mixing a wee drop at a time

to be honest your best bet is to buy any of the semi permanent dyes in the shops. a permanent dye will make your hair feel very dry whereas a semi (26-28 washes) will leave your hair feeling soft silky and shiny. any hairdresser will or should not use a permanent dyr to colour your hair dark for this reason and the regrowth root touch up is just the same with a semi to a permanent. hope this helps.
Casting is the best make of semi-perm colour, and they do actually have one called "Chocolate"!
The new version of Castings (Creme Gloss) is the best! It has a 'multi-tonal' effect and really does give you a salon-style result.
