why do people get varicouse veins

Basically, it seems that the cause is uncertain but the failure or weakening of the arterial valves might be due to obesity, standing for extended periods, physical damage (crossing one's legs etc), poor diet and smoking......

For me it was working hard and standing, not smoking and its more prevalent as you get older!
