No, there is absolutely no way we are, and we don't need evidence, we just need probabilites. The universe is VERY big and there are LOTS of stars and LOTS of planets and there are going to be LOTS of them with water on and LOTS of them close to their star but not too close and close enough to Supernovae explosions and around long enough to develop atmospheres.
So in short: probably not.

It would be bizarrely, childishly and insanely naive to think that we are the only life among the 100,000,000,000,000 stars in the known bit of the Universe.

True, dabees, but I think the question was really meant to ask if we're alone, in as much as we can think, communicate and act on that. There are all sorts of life forms, from single-cell to more complex beings. The odds of us being the only ones in the universe with the ability to reason'd be astronomical - pardon the pun!!
