holiday bores
12 Answers
anyone else find people around this time of year talking about what holidays they are going on incessantly somewhat tedious? a bloke i work with his wife is a travel agent and as a result she gets freebie holidays whereby she gets to "test" the holiday out before selling it on to us mere mortals ie cruises etc i had the temerity today to suggest to him that i dont agree with that and maybe those holidays should be given to families who maybe dont get a holiday because of financial constraints or parents with disabled kids.
He reacted like this was a terrible idea that how dare i suggest he didn't get his 4 holiday trips a year, but what an interminable bore he is when he comes back with his face like a wizened walnut and his holiday pics showing him in various drunken antics, who cares? can you honestly show you show any interest in anyone wittering on about some inane holiday that they have just been on?

It's a luxury for god's sake! People who say "Ooooh, no, got to go on holiday at least once a year, it's the only treat I get", I just don't get it. People act as if it's the only thing going on all year.
Welll its worse when youre here and see the same faces every year sometimes 3 or 4 times. And they say the exact same things when they see you 3 months later .And you listen and nod and think , oh my god ill heara this again in 3 months.
Oh dear oh dear.

my next door neighbours have gone to spain for the week, their idea of a holiday is cooking on the beach whilst the kids are at the kids club until its time to come home.
the pepperami's are due home in a few days

I can't say this without sounding flash or a show off ...but what the hell ....
My point is that I have been their and done that.
I used to take 4 to 5 holidays per year.
Done most of the USA and Europe.
Had a holiday home cottage in Cornwall for 5 years and went every other weekend. Barn conversion in National trust area ....blah blah ...
Now I just can't be bothered anymore.
I prefer to stay at home and just chill out.
People seem to feel they need to take an expensive holiday as a point of status. Did they enjoy it ?
Did they really enjoy it ?
Jet lag :-( .....
A hotel bed :-(...yes however expensive , nowt like your own bed.
Food :-( ..... I have eaten in 5 star hotels everynight for 4 weeks while away on business ..and nowt like beans on toast at home in front of the telly with the wife :-)
Airports ...need I say more.
