thank the goodnesses. it isn't counted as cheating in any way is it?
Depends on whether you're looking at it or starring in it I suppose.

Yes, you will find yourself comparing your partner/your partner's body unfavourably with theirs. Women will find their men's penis's too small and men will be turned off by any flab or imperfections on their women. You will also gradually get addicted to it and become less and less interested in having real sex unless with a stranger. It may not be fashionable to say it, but it will mess things up between you and your lover.
I think the comparisons thing works the other way - porn stars always look so weird, cheesy & fake that they make me feel better about myself!
Right on Pishdecoof. I find it makes me feel especially inadequate in physique and sexual prowress, and it makes my husband lazy. For men more than women it shifts the focus of sex completely to personal gratification rather than sharing a good roll about. And yes, it tends to bring out the vouyer in us all. To add a touch of "feminism" it contributes to the complete objectification of women (though not without help from movies and advertising). It also makes me wonder about the kind of guy who can get off to some of that nasty stuff like gaping ****** and emaciated lesbian foursomes with trackmarks and back-ne. Now let me clarify that after months of fighting and losing I rather encourage my husband to atleast go for the classy stuff with good lighting and skillful makeup application along with healthy ****** and nice-ish plots. Can you say CONTRADICTORY?
As part of my Legal Theory (Law and Morality) course we had to research arguments for and agains legalising brothels, but the arguments I uncovered apply just as well to porn. I can't expand here but I had to think of aspects I had never thought of before and concluded that basically, it is not really possible to not exploit/abuse the (usually vulnerable) people who work in the "industry". As a result I have changed my views and I am more "against" now. My ethical problems are with the exploitation of the people involved, rather than with being a consumer of porn. On the other hand, by being consumers of porn, people enable to industry, and the exploitation, to continue.
Just for the sake of good order I would like to clarify that my above comments are merely presenting the results of my research - I am not accusing anybody of enabling the exploitation to continue.
It makes me paranoid that I am not think enough compared with the women on there, but I can't change the way I am or that most men tend to like porn so there you go. I neither advocate or discriminate against its use. I spent awhile trying to understand it....I came to the conclusion that it is most likely laziness and the human tendancy towards voyeurism. It's not cheating at all though - unless you consider glancing appreciativly at someone attractive in the street also cheating?
What you say exploited people, are you referring to the men or women, as most people assume it is the women who are getting exploiuted, but it standard porn the womnen get piad around 10-20 time, (if not more) than the men, becuase who buys porn to look at the men. the women are probably earning more than you or I are everlikely to see. Of course, not all porn is like this, as there is some that uses desperate women on the cheap, but that's a different agrument.
I was thinking of the desperate women on the cheap.
not at all. But its much better to watch with your partner.
Yinzer - you state that porn 'contributes to the complete objectification of women'. What about gay porn? Doesn't that objectify men? You also imply that only men enjoy porn. Sorry but I know quite a few women that enjoy *all sorts* of porn, either on their own or with their partners (and some are straight, some aren't). In fact, one of them even makes a nice bit of money from writing it! Incidentally, for what it's worth, while I enjoy porn I personally do not find anything that's 'gaping' at me particularly sexy!
Stoo_bloke I was referring mostly to the nasty pornography and yes I have known men to actually watch and enjoy the gaping parts. Sure there's gay porn and all sorts of other stuff but I was being fecicious (sp?) in my remark about objectification. I have watched porn with my husband and at times enjoyed it, but for the most part these bad things are more noticeable than the good.
Fair comment Yinzer. I can see how the bad stuff can be more noticeable. I guess the problem is there's just too much of the bad stuff (or other words, simply crap porn!) The best solution would be to have many more women directors. Yeah, there are 1 or 2 but nowhere near enough. You might find the following links interesting: http://www.soapboxgirls.DOTCOM/feb02/articles/pornhater.html http://www.royalle.DOTCOM/behind_the_scenes.html p.s. yes, I changed my login from stoo_bloke to stoo_pid (only the names have been changed to protect the guilty :-)
In case anyone's still interested looks like we've got a female porn director in the UK, Anna Span http://news.scotsman.com/features.cfm?id=1039202004
