on saturday a man (local druggie) suffered a fit whilst in my shop, i put him in the recovery and made sure his airways were clear whilst a customer called an ambulance.
this person came into the shop tonight to have a chat as he had been released from hospital this afternoon and he was already back on the drink and drugs?
perhaps i should of let him go in his own pool of blood?

Always have a clean pair of disposable rubber gloves behind the counter...NEVER give the kiss of life to a suspected drug user, as if they vomit when you blow the contents of the mouth may enter yours.
Needle users often have Hep A or Hep B or even AIDS.
Clearing airways means you can get bitten or come in contact with body fluids ie saliva or blood.
Searching through pockets can find anything from used needles to weapons.
Be safe - Be careful - Be Aware.

Far too many times :( The ones that spring to mind were a guy whose life I saved as he ignored his diabetes and nearly went into a coma and it was only me pushing for a nurse to check his blood pressure which potentially saved his life.
He still didn't get how dangerous the whole situation could have been.
Another time I lent a load of very expensive (for a student) law books to help someone and never got them back.
