there is an elderly woman who's garden backs onto my place of work, this morning a man has knocked on her door telling her that I am unhappy about the tree hanging over the fence and I have sent him round to sort it out at her cost.

Being a nice/silly lady she gave him �600 in cash up front................ you know what happened next don't ya!!!

I cant believe someone could do this and also cant believe she would hand over the money??

OMG that is horrible. Some people have no consicence. I know I used to be nasty but I would never have done that especially to an elderly person who is vulnerable as it is. Elderly people in particular are gullible because they are frail and tend to be trusting. So sad becaus the old lady trusted in that man

ok so she was a bit silly, but some of the older generations are still very trusting of people and also arent aware of the true costs of things at times. She may also have felt intimidated.

Get in touch with the local police and the local council, theyre not likely to be able to do very much, but if you have a sensible copper on duty and they can nail the scumbag it could be viewed as obtaining money by deception... someone got done around here under similar circumstances and it might be worth a try. poor old dear.

That poor lady. :( My grandad was conned a couple of years ago, too, when my grandma was in hospital. He's so shy and didn't know what to do when a couple of dirty pikeys knocked on his door and forced themselves in to sort his garden- which didn't happen!
