I'm confused. Yesterday on This Morning, the Doctor said we should only drink 2 PINTS of water a day, and this morning on GMTC the Dr on there said 2 LITRES! I always thought it was 2 litres, which is why I've never been able to achieve it!!

I don't know but two litres is quite easy to achieve if you spread it over the day, and have a glass instead of tea or coffee or whatever.
Well isnt that what the media and medical professionals do?

GMTV Hot Topic/National debate (phonelines are open) Week 1, er.. eating an apple a day

Day 1: Do this
Day 2: Dont do that ^
Day 3: If you did do it, it can provide long term health benefits and ease the NHS burden
Day 4: If you do too much of it, it can cause cancer
Day 5: Doing too much also causes anti-social behaviour and should be banned
Day 6: Its not the doing, its how much they do it, and we should grant human rights for people to do it if they so wished
Day 7: Do it, but in moderation, and behave yourself like a responsible adult if not, blame the parents and give them all ASBOs, prompt Daily Mail campaign.

Day 1: Do this
Day 2: Dont do that ^..ad infinitum

If it was Dr. Chris Steele, then he probably meant 2 litres, he seems to be getting a bit dithery in his old age, must be all the anti depressants he's on. I've noticed he's made a few mistakes recently.
But , to further confuse matters I think the water that is in tea or coffee counts
Fluid in tea, coffee, squash, pop, milk and even alcohol counts, as does the fluid we get from food - we get a LOT of our fluids from food.

it's very simple.

Do what you are happy with. It's your body after all.

Think and learn for yourself. IT'S YOUR BODY. And for Pete's sake don't listen to other people ESPECIALLY daytime television. And newspaper articles. And divs on internet messageboards...
The amount of water you should drink is directly related to your calofic intake.

The equation is 1L of water per 1000 calories consumed in a 24 hour period. EG 2500 calories per day = 2.5L of water (just over 4 pints)
forget what the doctor said and drink when you thirsty, as much as you need to satisfy your thirst.
