Hi I wonder if anyone can help with the following query. My wife has recently been informed by her GP that her cholesterol level is 6.9 and she has to see the nurse. My wife is a healthy 8stones, doesn't smoke or drink, eats a very healthy diet, and in fact lives a very healhty life. She is 61 years old has anyone else got the same level and can offer any advice.
If your mother doesn't have a family history of heart disease and your mother's BP is normal, then in that situation I would disregard the cholesterol level.
Sometimes it's just hereditary. My Cholesterol level is 7.8, but my GP doesn't think I'm high risk, as I exercise regularly, don't smoke or drink, eat healthily and have quite low Blood Pressure. My mother has high Cholesterol, so I can't say mine is down to lifestyle.
I have a cholestoral level of 7 but, like Velvetee, my doctor isn't at all concerned.
He would be concerned if I smoked or drinked heavily or if there was a family history of stroke or heart disease. I eat very little fatty food and have a very good diet.
I must add that I stay away from all these various tests etc. as much as possible. For me, the stress of it all would do my health more damage than anything else!
