I agree. I'd ease off on the pork(though a little now and again should be OK) but the chicken and fish will be good for them. My children eat beef roughly once a week.(McDonald's usually!)
bluedolphin, the important thing is for your kids to eat a balanced diet. All meat and fish is a good source of protein so it doesn't matter if they don't eat beef. lemonbabe is talking utter rubbish - it does not take 7 years to fully digest red meat and multi-vitamins are a waste of money.
If you leave out the beef they could be missing out on iron which is really important to growing kids.
It's perfectly safe to leave red meat out of your children's diet as long as they are getting plenty of protein from other things. Oh and iron can be easily made up in a diet --- breakfast cereals, spinach etc.
We hardly have red meat, and I think my son's diet is fine. Another good source of iron, that kids love, is raisins.
