Bruise like marks

My friend has dark patches on her face. It looks like bruises and it gets worse at night. Does anyone know what causes it?

I think thyroid problems can cause and also found this...

I have a custromer who suggested an acid peel for the face he told me he had teenage acny and pock marks along with sun damage and that akthough the acid peel was painful it rejuvinated his apearance within 10 days and I swear looking today at his face you would not believe his age or the damage caused
