Living in the future!
4 Answers
Quite hard to explain, but basically I'm starting to realise that whenever I feel totally at ease and really happy, it's only because I'm looking forward to something.
I don't often just do something and feel really happy about doing it, i'm usually only content because I have things to look forward to (many of which don't turn out as good as I'd looked forward to!)
Is this normal?
Also, has anyone been in a mind-set where you just feel like you'll never meet someone you want to marry? I know it's so ridiculous, but it's just the way I keep feeling!
UCH! too many emotions come with fresher's week! (http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Body-and-Soul/Q uestion626864.html)

I have always said that everyone should always have something to look forward to. It does not have to be something expensive like a holiday, just even arranging with friends to go out for a walk or to explore a new town, somewhere you have not been before. As soon as you set that date, the excitement begins to build and life has something worth waiting for!
As for feeling that you will never meet anyone worthwhile, all I can say is join the club!! I am happily settled now with my partner, but like everyone else, I felt that he was never going to come along. All I can say while you are waiting for he/she to come along, it is far better to be single than tied up wiith the wrong person who is making you unhappy!
Cheers, I am sure you will enjoy your freshers week!

There's always something to look forward to, be it meeting friends, family get-togethers, days out or days in tucked up with a good film. Doesn't have to cost anything either.
As for looking for that someone special.... stop looking, it will happen when the time if right. Enjoy your 'single' days and enjoy other peoples company, don't look at them as prospective partners as it will happen when the time is right. Get to know them as friends first because you'll have to be friends to know them enough to live with them. Good Luck ... enjoy freshers week.

They say that the thing better than the experience or the memory is the anticipation. Maybe you just really like anticipation. Id say this shows you have a really good imagination. If your doing fresher's week your still young. Enjoy yourself. On the subject of living in the future... Where's my robot to do the laundry?
I've always been looking ahead and not allowing myself to enjoy the present. I heard a vicar speaking a month or two back, saying that he was hurrying into the church because he was a visiting priest, about to take the service in a strange church when he realised there was a beautiful flower bed running down the side of the church path. He made a conscious decision to stop and look at it. This made him realise that always looking towards the future means you don't give yourself the chance to appreciate the present. I really took that to heart and now I do all my chores slowly and make myself get some satisfaction, if not enjoyment, out of doing them. I'm also less impatient when, say, someone rings me when I'm just about to go out. I sit down and enjoy the conversation instead of trying to wind it up quickly. It takes a lot of practice, learning to appreciate the present but it has made me a calmer, less stressed person.
