overdose

yesterday mornning i came out of hospital. i had taken an overdose of paracetamol about 70 - 100. after 7 or 8 hours i went to the locoal a&e i was admitted and put on parvolax with was to protect my vital organs i.e liver kidneys
after that they took a blood test to see how much para was running through my blood and it was sky high the put me on another 2 hour drip and moved me to the e.m.u (emergancy medical unit) i had to stay there over night . after the 2 hour drip they said to me that the amount in my blood ment that i had to go onto a 16 hour drip. it did me some good in a bad way i was in there with three older men and they couldnt breathe,walk or even stand but they where there in there beds joking and flirting with the nurses just as much as i did but it made me think deep inside. in total i had about 2000mgs over 24hours. im out and back at work with the person i love but i am having really bad headaches,beathing problems and light headed and blurry vision is this because of the parvolax?

I cant believe you were discharged with no information about side effects or what to look out for in the coming days.

You would be best to try and avoid any pain killers at all but if you are really struggling try speaking to your practice nurse at the GP surgery,they will usually phone you back if they are busy when you phone. I was told to take Ibuprofen after my OD and to not have paracetamol for at least a month.

I really can't understand why people just don't stay away from questions like this if they don't have any answers. If you think something is a hoax, that's fine, but keep it to yourself.

I really don`t want to disbelieve this person, but I`m sure I read somewhere that there was no antidote to overdosing with Paracetamol, especially 70+. But still, I could be wrong.

You are wrong. Mentalchaos im not sure about the symptoms you are experiencing and I think NHS direct or back to A&E will treat/reassure you. If you have abdominal pain and feel nausea and vomit frequent but small amounts of frothy yellow bile go back to A&E as your liver could not be as recovered as the last blood test showed. I'm glad you are happy to be alive. Good Luck

Shylock,you are wrong,the antidote is called parvalox.The problems occur with a paracetamol overodose when the patient is far too late getting treatment.Try reading this article:

I hope that this poster comes back and sees that there were very genuine and positive responses.

If you do MC -then I hope you are feeling better and are in a better mindset.

If in future you feel so low -then please come on here -we will sift the wasters out and you will get absolute support from very caring people.I have posted in the middle of the night -in my darkest hours and the very fact that there were people there to help me saved me.I know that sounds melodramatic (I am now referred to as the drama queen by some) but people should take a step back and think -this person is going through the mill-why would anyone make anything up
