People are strange
22 Answers
People in general like company .Humans it would seem thrive in communities and it seems to be a natural thing for them to congregate in places to socialise together.
Yet strangely when you ask folk where they'd like to be if they could escape they invariably come up with a long sandy beach thats unspoilt and deserted or a tropical paradise island with total peace .
Do you think if you had to stay there all the time though that you'd soon get sick of the peace and tranquility and the natural urge to be among other people would make you want to return to civilisation ?

So seems tranquility is only good enough in small dosesw.
Humans dont like solitude and tranquility in the majority.Yes there have always been hermits or loners. But in general its not the norm to want totyal solitude.
Exactly why solitary confinement is seen as punishment in prisons even till this day .

Been to Las Vegas for 4 days on a fly/drive holiday. It was an amazing place, but far from peaceful - too many one armed bandits for starters - noisy things! Having said that, the helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon was even more amazing & very peaceful after landing. It was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop!
I could quite happily stay away from 'civilisation' for months - as long as I had loads & loads of books to read, pen & paper and some access to music.
I supose I'd get a yearning at some stage to be back amongst people, but I think ideally I would do it on a '2 month on, 2 month off' basis. Nice idea.

I wouldn't last 5 minutes.
I hate being alone. If I go away, I have to go with friends. Even when I have been "paired up" I still prefer to go away with other couples.
I hate nights in on my own, and I hate the prospect of a Friday night with nowhere to go.
So in answer to the question ...
... Yes, I would soon get sick of the Peace and Tranquility.
Just the words "Peace" and "Tranquility" fill me with dread.

I used to hate being on my own...it would quite literally send me into a panic. But since I have been on my own I have become a stronger person...and discovered that my own company is not a bad thing. Needless to say...being 'alone' is not the same as being 'lonely'.....which can happen even when surrounded by throngs of people.
We are all different in the amount of company we need or crave......the ideal for me would be that beach..with a thriving small community a mile or so away!!!
