There was an artical on the main BBC news on Wed. saying that some firm had invented an electronic cigarette that gets around the smoking ban in public places, they say it is legal because the substance in them is not tobacco, I checked on this fact and it seems to be correct, it then occured to me that back in the late 70s. most major cigarette companies bought out fags made with a substance called NSM (new smoking material) it looked and tasted like tobacco but was totaly man made, so would these be legal to use in public places if they re-introduced them ?? By the way I would point out that I am a non smoker myself, but I am curious about this law
No, the law applies to herbal cigarettes as well, and I'm not referring to Mary Jane.
The Health Act 2006 opens with a bang: Part 1, Smoking; Chapter 1, Smoke-free premises, places and vehicles. 'Smoking' refers to smoking tobacco or anything which contains tobacco, or smoking any other substance.
