Bizarre food restrictions
1 Answers
My sister is ill and has to cut phosphates out of her diet. On the list of forbidden foods are milk & cheese.
What baffles us is that she is allowed as much double cream as she likes.
Can anyone suggest why cream but not milk & cheese?

Scroll down the page to where it talks about which dairy products you can and can have, mrs_o. I take it your sister's been told to avoid phosphates, and not phosphorous? I think maybe the reason that milk and cheese are no-no's, is that certain cheeses (such as hard or processed ones) contain phosphates, and some foodstuff also has a high sugar level. Natural cream has nothing added - so perhaps that's why it's allowed.
