Ah, Ethel, I sympathize with your MG. I have a friend who was diagnosed last year (her brother had had it, also) and when I was searching around for her I came across this. You might find it interesting (unless you know it already!)
Some years ago a Dr Bernard Patten, neurologist at Methodist Hospital, Houston had an 8 yr old boy as a patient who could not walk (for whatever reason, I`ve forgotten) Patten treated him for extreme vitamin and mineral deficiency for 1 week and then he prescribed a capsule of ephedrine sulphate, a drug used in asthma. It opens the nerve pathways to the brain. One hour later the boy walked and ever since takes 2 capsules daily. I read that Dr Patten was using this treatment in MG.
From your former posts I gathered that you were house-bound in some way. I`m sorry it`s this MG but that doesn`t stop you from being very useful and helpful to the many people who`ve received your advice on AB, so Good for you! Tina x
I have a variety of health problems to contend with, asthma and chronic bronchitis too, so I have been taking the maximum amount of ephidrine as a bronchodialater for years.
Thankfully I am still able to enjoy life, not in pain (not since my hip replacement anyway) and am able to work from home, so I have much to be be thankful for.
I am very fortunate to have a very good 'lady who does' that helps out with the housework and things so I am able to stay in my home.
The internet is a sanity saver for me - there's only so much tv I can watch in my spare time.
Oh so you`re taking ephidrine, must be the usual treatment for MG, is it? Glad you`re well looked after. By the way, if you haven`t seen him, Les needs you on Careers. Hope you don`t mind me recommending you.
Hi Daniela, Sal, Sarah. I think we can all share Ethel, she`s so big-hearted. Except I can`t call her Mom, cos of my age. I know her username makes us think she`s a lot older than she probably is.
(Entre nous, while Eth`s not listening, I have this sentimental nickname for her. You remember King Ethelred the Unready from school (OMG maybe you don`t!) anyway, take it from me there was one. Well at home I call her Ethel the Ready! ) You don`t she`ll mind, do you?
You`re joking, Mrs C. !! Well, that`s a relief in a way. Thanks for telling me. Where are you now, I`ve just come up to go to Nod. Couldn`t understand why I was so tired. Of course, already forgotten the hour difference! Hope you had a good day. Seen Twink lately? She`s a real night-bird isn`t she? Dont` know when she gets her beauty sleep. Just got one more to check now, then, see you later, xx
