I'm going for counselling
10 Answers
Went to docs Fri cus I had a day off. He has referred me for counselling again, didn't go last time as didn't want to tell boss. He has reassured me though and said the most important thing is getting counselling not worrying about what to tell boss so I am going to have it.
Still unsure what to tell boss though, maybe I'm going for counselling cus struggling with a few things at the mo, or I was thinking might be able to kill 2 birds with one stone maybe and say that struggling with abortion still, true but having counselling for confidence issues really, but I think if I tell them struggling with abortion then maybe they might be more thoughtful as to what they say to me.
What do you lot think?

If you want to find a way to mention the abortion and hope for people to make allowances in conersations then tbh i think that youll either think youre being left out of conversations, if they talk away from you, or they will make time elsewhere to discuss things child related and youll get paranoid that they are talking about you.
Just say you have to take time off for medical appointments and that youll try and ensure they dont interfere too much with your working hours.
Im glad youre getting help though, i hope you find a way through this

Hey Karmgirl,
Imho you can never have to much counselling - mite have some more myself soon.
I would suggest that you tell your boss that you are having counselling for personal issues, you do not need to give him the ins and outs. Especially if you explain that your doctor has referred you.
Take care,

Well done for having councelling! However, don't mention the issue of the abortion to your employer. It's an extremely sensitive and personal subject, and frankly, has no place at work. It's your problem, your life, your issues. It's great that you have made the first step towards sorting out your problems, but it has nothing to do with your work place. Your boss will only be very embarrassed. Mention "personal issues" that you want to deal with, so you can get on with your life, but don't be specific. It's nobody else's business but your own.
You don't have to tell work anything about your personal life unless you wish too. From past experience I wouldn't tell them.
Goof luck with the counseling, I'm having some at the moment and its really helping me come to terms with being single and learning to like myself over again after a very bad relationship.

Please go for the counselling if you have been offered it, today I have just had my 4th counselling session with CRUSE - I have a lovely counsellor. My Nana died suddenly in May and I am still coming to terms with it because I did'nt get a chance to say goodbye - she went peacefully in her sleep and she is not here any longer. It was also her birthday yesterday and I did'nt get upset as much as I thought I would. So I think the counselling has helped very much. Four weeks ago I was in bits, believe me I still get upset now but the counselling has really helped, please go you will feel much better. Don't worry about work they should be very sympathetic and if you get a sick note if you go off sick you will be covered - one piece of advice I remeber the doctor giving me was - don't stay in every day, go out for walks and get plenty of fresh air, it is working for me.
Good luck on your path of recovery and I will meet you at the end, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
