pack a labour bag with stuff for you and baby during and straight after the birth.
then also pack a bag with a few things in should you need to stay in a day or so. like a nightie, toiletries etc.
for the labour bag pack:
long nightshirt or something to labour in.
socks to keep your feet warm
Hair band to tie hair back if long
TENS machine
some snacks / drinks
a book / MP3 and headphones in case of long labour
Maternity pads / disposable pants
vest, babygro, hat and nappies for baby.
list of all phone numbers in case you cant use mobile.
hospital bag
Arnica tablets to help ease bruising
pain relief should be given on ward
towels (dark colour)
dressing gown and clean nightclothes
comfortable clothes (maternity clothes will still be needed)
feeding pillow
then itll be things like bottles if you feed that way

I had three bags. One for labour, one for me when I got back on the ward and one for baby. ff the top of my head this is what I took:
Baby:
Vests / Body Suits
Sleepsuits (in various sizes, new born may not be big enough)
Scratch mitts
Hat
Nappies (although my hospital provided them and check about formula if you're not breastfeeding)
Me:
Three nightshirts (they got messy real quick and were easily binned)
Thick socks / slippers
Glucose / energy tablets
Bottled drinks with sports cap
Hair bands and grips (more than one as the one you use is guaranteed to snap)
Snacks for birthing partner (mine went on for over 24hours and he was starving and tired bless him)
Hospital stay:
Night shirt
Big knickers (10 big pairs from primark for 4)
Snacks - I found it helpful to have bananas and little bottles of juice, crisps, and things I could nibble on as I didn't fancy much
Dressing gown and slippers
Toiletries and toothbrush

Make sure you take a couple of pairs of Pyjamas, because I only took my nightdress for labouring and then one set of PJ's which I needed to change after a couple of hours meaning I had to send my partner back home to get me some more :-(
Take yourself some nibbles too, hospitals can be very expensive x

hi
something for your boyfriend/husband
everyone laughed at me because I packed a toothbrush, deodorant, clean clothes and nibbles for him. i just had a feeling i was going to have a long labour and i was right.
he ate all the nibbles, brushed his teeth so many times and even left the delivery room half way through the night to change his socks!!!!!!!!
i also used a lot of vasaline. it something i don't normally use. but i had the wee round tin so my boyfriend could just put it to my lips and i'd kiss it. there was no time for me to use my finger
the hospital i was in was like a sauna, luckily i had a couple of thse elasticated boob tube beach dresses which were perfect and handy for feeding
