If and it's a big if, they managed to convince me they were innocent and their escuse was plausable, i'm sure i'd be tempted to lie on their behalf....i think...maybe.
In my head, i'd have half convinced myself of their innocence anyway by believing that someone I loved was incapable of murder?
It really was a hypothetical "what if" question this. hopefully none of us have been put in that position, and even more hopefully, we never will!

I'll be honest, I read the first page and got half way thru the second and stopped reading so someone else might have said it already.
I can't say I would defnitely say no, in the case of Maxine Carr, if my husband told me he had abused/ murdered two girls I'd be heading for the hills (via the local cop shop obv), not lying for him.
It depends on if he was being honest with me, who he killed, why he killed and probably how aswell (if he shot or stabbed someone for example I would want to know what the hell he was carrying a gun or knife for) - it's easy to say that there is no excuse for murder, but if he killed a paedophile, or rapist, or some other awful person, then I would consider lying for him, as long as he was honest with me.
I saw a case recenty where a man in his 40s was found beaten to death, it turned out that he was a convicted paedophile, and the man arrested for the murder was a father of a victims. Almost without a doubt I would provide his alibi in this instance.
B00, no offence love, but I don't think I have ever seen you post such a deep topic(ed) question!

Hey i do deep occasionaly! (no smutty comments on THAT one please...lol)
But Natalie- hello to you by the way- what happens if he murdered someone, in cold bloody in reality but somehow convinced you that he was oh I dunno- robbing the local takeaway at the time or something.
So therefore- he's convinced you that he didn't do the murder, but he needs you as his alibi as he was still 'up to no good'.
And bearing in mind, in your heart you're convinced that he didn't kill anybody, as someone you love couldn't possibly do that- could they??

I couldn't bring myself to cover up if any crime had been admitted to me. However, if I thought that by confirming my partners alibi, I was then freeing up police time by stopping them following a lead I believed to be false, I may be inclined to do so.
Do you remember the Colin Pitchfork case ? He persuaded a friend of his to supply a DNA sample by dint of claiming that although he was innocent of those murders being investigated, he believed that the Police would fit him up as he had 'previous'............

Hello :-)
If that was the case, then it would depend on if he managed to grab me a battered sausage on the way out :-)
I think if I knew he defninitely lying, or even if I felt he was lying to me then I wouldn't lie, because to me that would be barefaced lie and I am a cr@p liar. The police would be on to me straight away and I would would never put my daughter in the position that she might end up in care because she has two stupid parents (she just has to put up with until we are locked away for the moment).
For example, if he went off to work as usual one morning, and came home as usual, and failed to mention anything unusual about his day, then we got a visit from the police because he had been seen in an area far away from where he is likely to be working and a murder was commited, he would need to have a REALLY good story to explain why he had been in the area in the first place. And even if it was a paedophile-rapist-kitten-stomper I would still find it hard to lie for him because I'd be putting myself on the line.
