My girl started a job at the new Westfield shopping centre couple of weeks ago (they were training for a week before its opening) but now wants to transfer to a new branch opening of the restaurant which is much closer to where she lives, in a month's time. Is this the wrong time for her to ask her employer for a transfer? I mean...it is the same company just a closer, less busy branch.

I don't see the problem with asking! It makes sense after all! They may say no, as they need her in this branch, and may have to advertise for someone else, or maybe someone in the other branch could swap. She should ask her boss and just be prepared for him to say no!
