tendon rupture?

Hi I was walking downstairs the other day and i felt a big pop in my calf, high almost near the back of my knee and now I can't walk on that leg unless I'm on tiptoes, and even then it is painful. The hospital doctor said I have ruptured the tendon in my calf. However, when I am looking it up on the internet, most write ups say you cannot go on tiptoes, so now I am confused. Also does anyone know how long it can take to heal? Thank you in advance!

Sounds a pretty accurate diagnosis from the Dr. Recovery time 4-6 weeks depending upon treatment regime.
