I suffer from sleep paralysis and sometimes hypagognic hallucinations with it. I do not want to take treatment from the doctor as they involve sleeping tablets and interfere with my everday looking after kids and working routine.(blah blah) My question is does anyone know if ther e are any herbal tablets around that aren't drowsy?? Thanks. I'm at my wits end here...

I did go into a herbal shop in my area to be looked at liek I was gone out.. so was not very helpful at all..

I have suffered badly from that and still do when under stress -very frightening.
I took the sleeping tabs just to break the cycle but if you want non prescription try Nytol.

I use that quite often and you do drift off into a good sleep and I dont feel groggy in the morning.

Good Luck with your remedies.

ive been using nelsons noctura, its a homeopathic remedy and ive found it really, really good. i had exactly the same as you and its very scary and sleeping tabs from the doc made it worse actually.
You could try a relaxation tape or cd at bedtime. I've one, brilliant!

Thanks for all your answers, it has all been very useful. I'll note down the remedies and try them and see which 1 suits me best thanks again... I really dont want it to happen again, fed up of being wary of going to sleep.

I have noticed I am stressed more with it being christmas etc so maybe that's why it's more prominent now.

Cheers.. here's to a beer and a stressfree life :-)

I just saw your post chinadog... I think that too is a great idea as every night it's quiet , and even though I sleep with my light on I'm still aware of what's going on around me and need something to take my mind off of it. I usually play a game on my phone but as soon as I put it down I wake up and am aware I'm scared again.. This way I can maybe fall asleep with it playing. I'll give it a go thanks :-)
have you ever tred anything like Kalms tablets?
Question Author
I havent no.. a friend said that they made her all trippy so i didnt bother. it feels trippy enough at night without that but if course i havent taken them but was just going on a friends suggestion... are they any good,? i really am concerned about drowsiness too.
They made me a lot less stressed and relaxed.

Maybe worth trying some before bedtime to see if they relax you enough?
