I have been using the above contraceptive injection for nearly a year and a half. For the first few months I had irregular bleeds then they stopped completely in April. In the past week I have had some bleeding and period like cramps. About 5 months ago I told the nurse I hadn't had any kind of period for a while and she told me I wasn't supposed to so why am I now. It is supposed to happen? I am not due another injection for a month so thought I would ask here first.

Hi milly, I used to have the injection, as far as I know it affects everyone differently, some peoples periods stop completely, some have irregular bleeds and some just carry on as normal. The nurse shouldn't really have said that you're not supposed to have a period as this is obviously just going to worry you if you do have some bleeding. Have you had any other side effects? I found that I put on a lot of weight to start with.
