bariatric surgery

has anybody had a gastric by-pass? was it worth it? are there any side effects they dont tell you about? i'm trying to make a decision about having this surgery and would really appreciate any feedback.

However, she spent ages looking into it, as there are several types of bariatric surgery, and they don't suit everyone.

I will say that gastric bypass surgery is irreversible, and can have some unpleasant after effects, but as with everything else, some people have no adverse effects at all. Gastric banding, however, is reversible, and adjustable. It's also less invasive.
PS. bariatric surgery is not successful for weight loss in those who have a high alcohol intake. (Not that I'm suggesting you do!)
