O Positive Blood Group

For years I wondered what blood group I am and only found out recently that I'm O Positive.

Is O Positive the most common blood group around?

O Pos -40%
ONeg -7%
A Pos -36%
A Neg -6%
B Pos -7%
B Neg -1%
AB Pos -2.5%
AB Neg -0.5%

0 Neg.......you can give your blood to ANYONE

AB Pos.....you can receive blood from ANYONE.

Just a thought; do all of you donate blood? Each and every type of blood is badly needed by the BTS. It's one of the few things that you can do for others that will not cost you anything.

Yes did do till they brought in the no donating if you ever had a transfusion since 1980 rule. I had one after my son was born in 1983 so all of a sudden I couldn't give it any more. I was quite upset! Mr yogasun has donated about 30 pints but had to stop when put on steroids more or less permanently. My younger son is now a relular donor to make up for it - just the older one to convince! :o)

I used to give blood regularly but I also had to have a transfusion after an op and I'm also on medication which means I can't any more. I would do it again if they would have me but I've asked several times and the answer is always no no matter how desperate they are.

the problem with being o pos is that 1) everyone wants it because its so popular
2) it's the one they run out of quickest, being the universal donor

Sorry bednobs O neg is the Universal donor....it does not contain antigens.
