I have done a GNVQ Intermediate IT course and passed at school 5 years ago and it basically covered everything thats in the ECDL. I have also done an NVQ level 2 in Business Admin which covered some of the same stuff again.
I was just wondering, how important is it for me to get the ECDL considering I have already done all the stuff in it (even though I can't remember some of it) under a different qualification name. Is it best just to do the same stuff over again and pay 300 for it just so I can say I have an ECDL qualification or would an employer be just as happy with me going in and saying I have this many years experience of working in admin and have done an NVQ and a GNVG.
Whilst it won't hurt to update your IT knowledge (assuming you haven't been doing so), I wouldn't pay 300 for the privilege (who's charging you this much, by the way?). If you have to spend your money, then why not look at something a little more advanced.
I wouldn't pay 300 for the ECDL - I did it the first year it came out - but my employers paid all the costs at that time. Leave it until you're employed and ask if they would send you on it - personally I don't think it's worth 300 of anyone's money. Very basic - I would have thought your NVQs & experience are worth far more.
