dougalface - my daughter's dance teacher had tried champix - said they were great whilst taking them didnt need a smoke, but once she stopped the course she went back on to the smokes again! My mum also went to the doctor to ask about having them and he refused her, but that's because she already has emphasema and tb, so they aren't right for certain people -
Jenna is correct, they are not given to anyone who has had a past history of mental illness (eg depression).
Think you are best to have a chat with your doc to see if they are right for you. Have you tried patches/inhalator at all? I found the patches were great (the 24 hour ones). I did use them years ago and was off the smokes for a couple of years, although different circumstances came and went and I ended up back on smokes again - silly cow!!
Good luck with it all - hope you find the right solution for you.
